The Kronenringe: Jewellery Residency for Emerging Artists is a new artist-in-residence program launching in November 2025 in Landsberg am Lech, Bavaria. It takes place in the original goldsmith workshop of the late artist Barbara Helleis, whose renowned “Kronenringe” have become a symbol of her craft. The residency offers three jewellery artists per year a 4-month financed stay including free accommodation, travel reimbursement, a monthly scholarship, and access to a fully equipped, historically significant goldsmith’s workshop and material library.
The program combines artistic freedom, professional mentoring and cross-generational exchange. Participants benefit from expert guidance, public presentations, and exhibition opportunities both in Landsberg and with cooperation partners in Munich. Media coverage by leading trade journals ensures international visibility.
The residency is designed for emerging jewellery artists and designers – recent graduates, re-entrants after career breaks, and professionals seeking to explore new directions. It provides space and resources to unite art and craftsmanship, to experiment with techniques and materials, and to strengthen the appreciation of jewellery art as both cultural heritage and contemporary artistic practice.
The program addresses a pressing need: worldwide, very few residencies provide jewellery artists with access to complete goldsmith workshops, specialised tools and materials. At a time when traditional craft training is declining, the Kronenringe Residency sets an example of how to preserve artisanal knowledge, foster innovation, and enhance the public visibility of jewellery art.
The residency is supported by established institutions including:
